Deep Tissue Massage
Deep Tissue Massage is a therapeutic treatment focused on releasing deeper layers of muscle tension and improving mobility. The treatment is performed entirely by hand, using a combination of hands, forearms and elbows to work slowly and precisely with areas of tension.
Through palpation and an understanding of anatomy, I identify areas of muscular tightness and restricted tissue, adapting the pressure and techniques to your individual needs and how your body responds. Deep tissue massage does not have to mean excessive pressure or pain – the aim is effective, controlled work that encourages the muscles and surrounding tissues to relax and release tension.
What can Deep Tissue Massage help with?
Deep Tissue Massage may be particularly beneficial for persistent muscular tension, stiffness and areas that feel tight or restricted. It can help to:
- relieve muscular tension and tightness
- improve flexibility and range of movement
- reduce stiffness caused by prolonged sitting or repetitive activities
- support recovery from physical activity and muscular fatigue
- improve circulation within the treated tissues
- target commonly tense areas such as the back, shoulders, neck and legs
- promote an overall feeling of physical release and relaxation
